Knight Eady, a Birmingham, Alabama-based sports marketing and event management company, is seeking applicants for an eight-month fellowship to join the Knight Eady staff in the events department.

The Events Fellow will support the entire portfolio of Knight Eady events by assisting with the planning, organization, and execution of our event schedule. If you are a detail-oriented person with a strong work ethic looking to learn more about the sports event industry and how large-scale amateur sports events are brought to life, this could be a great position for you!

This temporary position begins on or around December 1, 2024 and ends on or around July 31, 2025.

Current events include the AHSAA Super 7, SEC Dr Pepper Fanfare, C.M. Newton Classic, AHSAA State Finals, Elevate the Stage Gymnastics Meets, NCAA Women’s Basketball March Madness, NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship, and Corporate Challenges in Birmingham & Chattanooga.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE IMPACT

The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist the events team (VP of Events, Director of Events, Event Director) in the planning and execution of events, including pre-event meetings, development of manuals or information packets, staff scheduling, facility set-up and breakdown, and emergency preparedness.
  • Support the development of organizational processes necessary to event operations, including parking, credentialing, ticketing, security, and volunteers.
  • Work with internal staff along with external transportation and logistics providers to ensure all necessary events-related supplies and equipment are transported or shipped to venues in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to the organization and management of all rented or purchased Knight Eady equipment, supply inventory, and storage areas.
  • Support the fiscal efficiency efforts of Knight Eady by monitoring and overseeing event budgets as assigned as well as demonstrating ethical and efficient spending of day-to-day organizational funds.
  • This position will require working an adjusted schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed.

WHAT YOU HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated experience in event management (or other comparable, fast-paced work environment). Internship experience is applicable.
  • Understanding of the events industry and a requirement to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as required for event execution
  • Ideal candidates will have strong organizational skills and the ability to think critically while handling multiple client projects and deadlines.
  • Our work environment encourages teamwork, collaboration and leadership. The ability to take feedback and contribute to the process is a must.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently, both internally and externally.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to lift objects over 35 lbs.
WHAT GIVES YOU AN EDGE

  • Compensation: $16/hour (anticipated average of 30 hours/week; overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hours in one week)
