Knight Eady, a Birmingham, Alabama-based sports marketing and event management company, is seeking applicants for a seven-month fellowship to join the Knight Eady staff in the strategy department.

The Strategy Fellow will support the full suite of agency clients and events through mixed media marketing strategies and brand communication. This entry level, fellowship position will include a heavy amount of copy writing and research and is paramount for larger client success. If you are a detail-oriented person with a strong work ethic looking to learn more about the sports marketing industry and how large scale marketing and public relations strategies are brought to life, this could be a great position for you!

This temporary position begins January 8, 2024 and ends July 31, 2024.

Current strategy clients include Yea Alabama, Conference USA, Noah Basketball. Other KE clients include the NCAA and the Southeastern Conference.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE IMPACT

The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Collaborate with the strategy team, account managers, creative team and event directors on the execution of strategic marketing plans, providing support through copywriting, research, social media management, email marketing and drafting marketing materials.
  • Support the overall success of various client accounts by attending meetings, executing elements of the pre-determined marketing strategy, and performing research to help guide strategy.
  • Offer support on mixed media marketing and public relations campaigns from the idea stage through execution and implementation through audience research, copywriting, developing pitch lists, brainstorming pitch angles, and providing support at on-site events.
  • Work with department heads, account managers and event leads to discuss and support plans and marketing strategies for accounts and events as assigned.
  • Stay current with emerging opportunities and trends in the world of mixed marketing, brand communication and event management.
  • Keep management and account leads in the loop and effectively escalate roadblocks when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the strategy team, account managers, creative team and event directors on the execution of strategic marketing plans, providing support through copywriting, research, social media management, email marketing and drafting marketing materials.
  • Additional responsibilities to support the strategy and operations of Knight Eady events and clients may be assigned as necessary.
  • This position will require working an adjusted schedule including evenings, weekends and travel as needed during events.
WHAT YOU HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated experience in strategic marketing, public relations or similar responsibilities. Internship experience is applicable.
  • Experience executing elements of a marketing or public relations strategy, including but not limited to social media copy, email marketing, press releases, media alerts, and website copy. Bodies of previous work may be requested.
  • Ideal candidates will have strong organizational skills and the ability to think critically while handling multiple client projects and deadlines.
  • Ideal candidates will be extremely strong writers and be proficient in AP style.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently, both internally and externally.
WHAT GIVES YOU AN EDGE
  • Experience working in platforms such as Constant Contact, Wordpress, Meta Business Suite, Twitter Ads, Google Analytics, Looker Studio/Google Data Studio, Monday.com and Meltwater
  • Understanding of the events industry and a requirement to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as required for event and project execution
