Knight Eady named among Inc. magazine's Best Workplaces
We are excited to announce that Knight Eady has been named one of the Inc. magazine’s Best Workplaces for 2018, the publication’s third annual ranking in the fast-growing private company sector.
Hitting newsstands today in the June 2018 issue, the award is the result of a wide-ranging and comprehensive measurement of private American companies who have created exceptional workplaces through vibrant cultures, deep employee engagement and stellar benefits. Out of thousands of applicants, Inc. singled out Knight Eady among just under 300 winning companies.
What does it take to become a company that workers want to be a part of? Inc. magazine says it’s more than good pay and good perks – and we agree!
While Knight Eady takes pride in some of our most popular workplace perks—like our annual staff retreat, unlimited vacation policy and our amazing office space—we know that our workplace culture is built on a stronger foundation than these things alone.
The key to our workplace is our people. We like to say our people are “bought in,” meaning they fully believe in the mission, core values and direction of our company. Our people immerse themselves in our culture because we empower them to help shape it each and every day.
At every staff meeting, we go around the room and state how others in the company have lived out our core values since the last meeting. This looks like anything from “Thomas led with a servant’s heart when he bought me coffee today” to “Daniel has done an incredible job working on a project that was new to him, showing he is constantly pursuing growth and learning.” This small gesture speaks volumes about how deeply our company believes in our core values, but more importantly, in one another.
We asked some of our team members to share why they think Knight Eady is one of the best workplaces, answering the question from the unique perspective that only they bring to the table.

If there is one thing I have an excess of as event coordinator for Elevate the Stage it is perspective. I see this event from the eyes of a competitor, that of a spectator, and now that of an event coordinator; because in the five years of its existence, I’ve gotten to be all those things! I feel very encouraged to develop and design this signature Knight Eady event. Every day, I get to connect youth gymnasts with the prized opportunity of competing on a championship podium. Additionally, they get to interact with the NCAA athletes that they idolize. Most importantly, I get to champion a positive experience in a sport that has given me so many life lessons, friendships, and now a full-time career.
Michael Eady, Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer, founded the company in 2013
I believe Knight Eady is one of the best places to work because we are very intentional about the people we hire. Ultimately, it is the people in our office that make it such a great place to work. Our people genuinely care deeply for each other and care about the work they do. We choose to go the extra mile to invest in them as people, not just employees, in order to show them that our commitment to them is just as strong as their commitment to us. It has been great to watch our culture develop over the years, despite changes in our staff and service offerings. Our workplace culture has been, and always will be, a priority for Knight Eady.
Katie Jernigan, Director of Communications, joined the team in 2014
Over the past five years, Knight Eady has pivoted and adjusted our service offering, but Michael and David’s commitment to our company culture has remained the same. From the beginning, it has been clear that investing in their people in order to build a contagious company culture has been Michael and David’s primary focus. Starting as an intern four years ago, I have seen this firsthand on many occasions. From various staff retreats to company happy hours, paired with professional growth opportunities and an empowering environment, Knight Eady has a culture that is unparalleled. Because of this culture, Knight Eady has been able to attract and develop not only top talent, but also a team of individuals who believe in the company’s mission and values. The culture of our company has only strengthened because our people have invested themselves in protecting and fostering the same positive environment.
Chris Nix, Chief Development Officer, joined the team in 2013
My favorite things about Knight Eady are our versatility and our people. We are capable of providing many unique services in an industry that challenges us to always think of the next big idea. We are not afraid of risk and there are no bad ideas. The attitudes at Knight Eady reflect that belief and we truly have fun following our belief in sports!
David Sikes, Technical Director of Content, joined the team in 2018
Before I had an opportunity to work at Knight Eady, I knew their reputation for valuing their people well. The company expresses that through benefits, perks, and real encouragement to find that pesky work/life balance; but I feel it is best expressed in the way every employee—from intern to executive—is genuinely empowered and trusted to be an active participant in bettering the business, caring for and cultivating the culture, and making a tangible difference in the future of the company.
Lindsey Smith, Operations Services Coordinator, joined the team in 2017
Before I ever walked into Knight Eady as an employee, I was a supporter. I vividly remember David talking about this new company that he and his friend Michael were going to start and thinking “maybe one day I could work there.” Almost four years later, I found myself doing just that and it has exceeded my wildest dreams. Having worked for many other companies before I landed at Knight Eady, I can confidently say that this is the best place to work. I feel valued for my skillset and all while encouraged to grow. Lots of companies say they care about you as a person, but there are few that actually deliver on the promise. Knight Eady truly does and that’s one of the reasons why I’ve never had a day where I haven’t been excited to go to work.
The 2018 Inc. Best Workplaces Awards assessed applicants on the basis of benefits offered and employees’ responses to a unique, 30-question survey fielded by each of the applying companies. Responses were evaluated by the research team at Quantum Workplace. For its results to qualify, each company had to achieve a statistically significant response rate based on employee count. Survey scores accounts for employer size to level the playing field between small and large businesses. All companies had to have minimum of 10 employees and to be U.S.-based, privately held and independent – that is, not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies.
